Antiques

antique armoire

I am far from an authority on antiques. And I am NOT a dealer in antiques. However, I do find an antique (or primitive) piece from time to time. These will be listed with the condition, to the best of my knowledge. If I do repair I will list as such. Any previous repair that I see will be described. Some pieces I refinish, some I repair and refinish. Some I clean only and sell as is. This will be described in the listing!!! If you see an item you are interested in feel free to e-mail me an offer at max@mywoodnstuff.com.

Bedroom Suite

antique bedroom suite

Bedroom Suite: This is a very unusual set because of the use of different species as inlay or segmentation. It is made of Black Walnut and Hard Maple (my opinion). These are segmented in a very pleasing pattern. The entire set was stripped and refinished with MINWAX© clear semi-gloss polyurethane. As a set they are in good condition (each piece is described in detail below). The price on the set is $2400.00 (picked up at my shop). If you wish to make an offer, e-mail me at max@mywoodnstuff.com. All offers will be considered and you will be notified of my decision by return e-mail.

Armoire: I consider this a most unusual piece. As you can see in the pictures it has a very smooth pattern in the segmentation. Again this is Black Walnut and Hard Maple (my opinion). This unit is 69 inches tall, 38 inches wide, and 19 1/2 inches deep. As the pictures show the right side is open with a clothes rod in the top. It is 20 1/2 inches wide and 51 1/2 inches tall, with 7 1/2 inches closed at bottom front. The left side is 12 inches wide and has an open shelf 13 1/4 inches at the top, then 3 drawers 7 inches deep, and an open 16 inch space closed 7 1/2 inches at the bottom. The left front corner post has been repaired (see pics) It is noticable but not dominate. This piece was stripped and refinished with MINWAX© clear semi-gloss polyurethane.

Dresser:Again we have the unusual segmentation of Black Walnut and Hard Maple (my opinion). This dresser measures 69 inches tall, 44 1/2 inches wide, and 18 inches deep. The dresser top is 29 1/4 inches high. The 3 piece mirror is 30 1/2 inches tall and 26 1/2 inches wide (glass size). There are 2 drawers on each side of the knee-hole. Each side has a 8 inch tall and 9 inch wide top drawer with a 9 inch tall and 9 inch wide bottom drawer. The knee-hole is 24 inches tall and 18 inches wide. This piece also stripped and refinished with MINWAX© clear semi-gloss polyurethane. I see no damage or repair on the unit.

Bed:The bed for this set is again segmented as the other pieces. The headboard post on the left side has been repaired at some time (see pics), but seems to hold the rail solidly. Again this unit was stripped and refinished with MINWAX© clear semi-gloss polyurethane. Measurements are: Headboard- Height of post-53 1/2 inches, height in center-48 inches, width-56 1/2 inches Footboard- Height of post-46 inches, height in center-30 1/2 inches, width-56 1/2 inches Rails- length-74 1/2 inches, width-5 1/2 inches.

Antique Oak Dresser

antique oak dresser

This is a fine old dresser with a HUGE mirror. The dresser is 54 inches wide, 76 inches tall, 24 inches deep, and the top is 23 inches high. The mirror is beveled and I believe it to be original. It measures 39 1/4 inches wide and 35 1/4 inches tall (glass measurements) The mirror pivots up or down (see pics). The bottom drawer is 45 inches wide and 8 inches deep. The top right drawer is 15 inches wide and 7 inches deep. The top left drawer is 29 inches wide and 7 inches deep. There is a set of casters with it that are probably original. At some time in the past this piece was refinished. All I did was wash it down with thinner and apply a coat of MINWAX© clear semi-gloss polyurethane. This is a very unusual piece due to the size of the mirror and the low dresser top. Unquestionably oak and very fine condition. Price on this piece is $1750.00 (picked up at my shop). If you wish to make an offer, e-mail it to me at max@mywoodnstuff.com. All offers will be considered and you will be notified of my decision by return e-mail.

Wash Stand

washstand

This is an ordinary wash stand in good condition. As can be seen in the picture the top left spindle has been replaced at some time as it is a bit darker than the rest. Also there is a tiny crack in the bowl (maybe 2 inches long) but it is definately not noticable. Unit has been SOLD.

Steamer Trunk

steamer trunk

This nice old trunk is 28 inches by 17 inches and 21 inches tall. The pictures tell it all. This trunk has NOT been refinished in any way but cleaning. As you can see the left handle is broken. The rollers work, but one is slow. The liner is nice for its age and not torn that I see. The price on this trunk is $85.00 (picked up at my shop). Additional Pictures: Front and Back, top and bottom, right and left sides, inside liner and lid.
